Avlyst: Navigating the political maze in Norway as startups

Dette arrangementet foregår på engelsk.
Abelia og ENFA arrangement 8. november

Join us at this event and gain an overview of the political landscape in Norway for startups. Newly founded ENFA - Euro Nordic Funding Alliance are ready to share how knowledge and resources mainly available to large companies now will be accessible to startups.

Norway offers a world of opportunities for startups, but navigating the intricate web of political and economic influences can be a daunting task. That's where ENFA - Euro Nordic Funding Alliance help startups break through the barriers and access the opportunities often reserved for larger corporations. Abelia support startups by influencing policy to improve the business environment in the knowledge- and technology based sector. Nils-Ola Widme, Director and Head of Policy at Abelia, will elucidate the challenges associated with policies primarily tailored to support well-established enterprises in their green transition, rather than fostering the growth of a new economy in Norway.

Starting a business in Norway is easy, but Norwegians' motivation to become entrepreneurs is at an all-time low, according to Abelia's transition barometer. Entrepreneurs have long demanded more attention (and resources) from politicians, but seem to gain little more than the occasional applause – and more taxes. We went out to ask entrepreneurs what matters most to them and what support they need. Jo E. Roald is Head of Tech Policy at Abelia and will present some key insights to spark discussion and reflections.

Alfred Bjørlo, Member of Parliament, Liberal Party will explain their "Grunderpakke" – a set of policy measures crafted to facilitate the nurturing of a dynamic startup ecosystem in Norway.

Additionally, we will host an open forum, moderated by Niloufar Gharavi, General Secretary of ENFA. During this session, startups will have the opportunity to candidly share their challenges and insights, exploring the pertinent question: Does Norway necessitate a Minister for Innovation? We encourage you to engage with us proactively and ask you to prepare to share your perspectives on the following questions:

  • How do you perceive the impact of political factors on your startup or scaleup business operations?
  • What obstacles do you encounter when attempting to access services that you believe should be tailored to cater to the unique needs of startups?
  • Do you believe that Norway would benefit from the establishment of a Minister for Innovation?
